What is Heart Of The Community?
Shelton Youth and Family Services are seeking nominations of the Shelton youth who have contributed in some positive way to the betterment of an individual, group, or community. Youth will be honored for their community service, good citizenship, and motivation to help others.

July 2024
Miguel Soto
Miguel volunteers through his church, Kingdom Life Church, Milford, to pack and deliver meals and personal care packages to anyone in need. He hands them out in Bridgeport and on the New Haven Green. Miguel does this on the weekends with his family and other church members. He was nominated by Kay Redmond, social worker, Perry Hill School.

Matthew Sahagun
Matt is an amazing young man who excels in the classroom and on the court. A successful student athlete, Matt is a member of the National Honor Society and President of FBLA. Matt loves being helpful and involved in our community. While suffering an injury during volleyball season, Matt volunteered as a student coach to lead his teammates to many victories. With his involvement in school activities and community service, Matt gives 100% to everything he becomes a part of. Sahagun was nominated by Lynn Giordano, school counselor.
